The Boga Blog: 2024 Winners: Jamie earns back-to-back championship

The votes are in and the people have spoken! This year, the top three spots were tight the entire race with "Holding Space for a Wicked Cookie" (Jamie), "Drones over Jersey" (Jamie), and "Raygun...Pure Gold" (Robin). All three were beautiful cookies that showed meticulous attention to detail, and all had widely appealing themes which has proven to be a necessary element to achieve a Boga Bake-Off victory. In the end, Jamie prevailed with "Holding Space for a Wicked Cookie" with 117 votes which earned her a back to back victory from last year, giving her the championship for 8 out of the last 9 years. It was not without controversy as everyone wanted to do Wicked, but Jamie's execution earned top votes.

While those three earned top spots, we had a second grouping of cookies jockeying for their own positions throughout the voting. Nancy had high hopes for her cookie, "They're eating the Dogs, They're eating the Cats" - the animals had hilarious expressions and we all thought it had the "it" factor to put it in the top three. But Robin's "Pink Pony Club" seemed to have wider appeal earning it a 4th place finish.

And can we talk about "Hawk Tua - Spit on that Thang!"?!?! In a surprise entry from Tim, this raunchy cookie earned him a career high 40 votes and a 7th place finish. It seemed to appeal mostly to suburban dads. And our apologies if you had to explain to your children what this was. "Hawk Tua" competed the entire time with Jamie's "Watch out for-a Luigi" (which was a surprising low performer - the art was so good and it had a timely theme!!) and "Banana for $6.2 million" (probably too niche) in the next tier of cookies.

Another career high performance went to Mia & Coco, who co-designed Mike Tyson's GYATT. It earned them a career high 25 votes, which seemed to mostly come from 2nd-6th graders.

The bottom of the barrel included End of an Era (lazy Tay Tay), Baby Reindeer (amazing show and theme but perhaps lackluster execution), Bogas in a Menorah (should we retire this franchise?), It Ends with Us #teamblake (perhaps badly timed bc are we all #teamblake right now?? hard to tell), and Pollock no. 26 (most of Tim's votes probably went to Hawk Tua).
